Defense of master's qualification theses in specialty 126 Information Systems and Technologies
Today, the defense of master's qualification theses of students of group 2IST-19m, specialty 126 Information Systems and Technologies (graduation department - systems analysis and information technologies of the Faculty of Computer Science of the VNTU) was completed. The head of the DEC is the director of LLC "Analytics" Serhiy Oliynyk. The works were devoted to the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies, time series analysis, the Internet of Things, GIS and GPS technologies, programming technologies, including web programming, the use of Python, Java, C# languages, etc. to solve important tasks in various areas - IT project management, monitoring and optimization of passenger road transportation, forecasting sales, searching for possible sources of increased river pollution, analyzing and predicting precipitation, recommending movies for viewers, and forecasting the energy consumption of electrical equipment. The supervisors of the works were professors and associate professors of the department, including I (Dr. of Engineering Sciences, Prof., Kaggle Grandmaster), Dr. of Engineering Sciences, Prof., Kaggle Master Oleksandr Mokin, Assoc. Prof., Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences Evgeny Kryzhanovsky, Assoc. Prof., Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences Oleksiy Kozachko and others.
The works used both real data from the State Water Monitoring System and the State Meteorological Network, as well as hypothetical data, but with a real structure and real examples of their format, that is, all works, after some adaptation, can be actually implemented and give interesting and useful results.
All students are authors of scientific papers, and two are also authors of articles submitted or accepted for publication in a scientific professional publication of Ukraine in their specialty 126. One of the graduates plans to enter graduate school next year, some of the others also received such a recommendation, but still took time to consider this decision.
The commission members noted the high level of readiness of the works, good reports and answers to questions. All works successfully passed the plagiarism check and were published in the JetIQ system of VNTU in advance of the defense. Therefore, most of the works were rated "excellent".
The meeting was also attended by 3rd and 4th year and 1st year master's students of the same specialty from the educational programs "Applied Information Technologies" (bachelor's degree) and "Information Technologies for Data and Image Analysis" of our SAIT department.
