On February 8, 2022, at the Department of Systems Analysis and Information Technologies of FIITA VNTU, a reporting session of postgraduate students of educational and scientific programs of specialties 124 and 126 was held on Google Meet. The topics of the dissertations are quite diverse: modern machine and deep learning technologies, including NLP, NER, GAN, image recognition, Internet of Things, time series forecasting, system analysis and modeling of processes in complex systems, development of analytical web systems, etc. The scientific supervisors are full-time doctors of technical sciences, professors of the SAIT department. Each of the 8 postgraduate students reported on the work done: a presentation was demonstrated, a description of published articles in category B professional publications in their specialty and abstracts of international conferences were given.
Each graduate student described their innovative achievements:
an article was published in a foreign scientific periodical;
participated in paid research work under a government contract (the department's teachers won the tender) and it was based on the materials of this research that the postgraduate student published a professional article - he described his role in both the research and the writing of the article (he did all the calculations and their automation);
participated in writing the section of reports on modeling the spread of coronavirus in Ukraine, in particular, in predicting the number of new patients – every two weeks during the reporting period (reports are posted on the website of the NAS of Ukraine and sent to the NSDC, etc., the full name of the graduate student is directly indicated in the text of the reports);
a report was co-authored at a meeting of the Southern Bug Basin Council outlining how IT, developed by a 4th-year graduate student, will help solve problems in the basin;
a preliminary study is being conducted on the selection of hardware and IT for monitoring environmental parameters on the topic of the dissertation (there is an enterprise with which VNTU has a cooperation agreement and which is ready to finance the purchase of hardware for the experiment);
within the framework of cooperation with the Vinnytsia City Council, a ready-made basic solution for identifying cyclists in video camera images has been developed, which can be tested when the City Council provides access to them (such a preliminary agreement was reached during the postgraduate student's visit to the City Council's Situation Center);
approaches have been developed for automatic decoding of aerial photography data (within the framework of a cooperation agreement with VNTU and an enterprise where there is a branch of the SAIT department), preparations are underway for experimental research;
Work is underway on spatial analysis of public air monitoring data for the city of Vinnytsia and Vinnytsia region, provided within the framework of a cooperation agreement with VNTU;
two graduate students participated in various Kaggle competitions in the field of image recognition.
Students of our department are also involved in the research. Work is also being carried out in other areas. This list is only about research where certain stages have been completed. Some of the research is in the process of being completed. Moreover, if the contract postgraduate students who entered in March had an annual report, then the budget postgraduate students who entered in the fall had only a half-year report.
Also, graduate students reported on the certificates they received from online courses on Coursera. One graduate student received the title of Kaggle Notebooks Expert. All reports were approved unanimously.
An applicant who applied for graduate school at our department was invited as an observer to gain useful experience that he would need if he successfully passed the entrance exams and enrolled in our program.
