On November 3-4, 2018, the Vinnytsia City Council Hackathon on Artificial Intelligence and Open Data was held at VNTU. 15 teams participated in the competition, including students, graduate students, and developers from IT companies. The City Council provided them with access to video from its street cameras to develop AI solutions for their automatic recognition and processing for the purposes of improvement and security of citizens, business, and government. Several teams participated from the FCSA, including the SAIT-Logic team from the SAIT section of the SAKMIG department, which included 2 3rd-year students of the specialty 124 - Systems Analysis, and the captain was an employee of the Nestlogic company (a graduate of the FCSA). The second and third places were won by teams consisting of students of the Faculty of Computer Systems and Automation of VNTU of specialties 124 - Systems Analysis, 126 - Information Systems and Technologies and 151 - Automation and Computer-Integrated Technologies (the first place was taken by the team where there were no students).
One of the prizewinners was the SAIT-Logic team of the System Analysis and Information Technologies (SAIT) section of the SAKMIG department, consisting of students of specialty 124 and AI developers from the company NestLogic (hence the name of the team). They presented an interesting solution for automatically searching for anomalous situations on the video surveillance cameras of the Vinnytsia City Council and even managed to process a number of video images from those cameras to which access was provided during the competition. They also proposed how to automate the marking of prohibited and other zones on video frames using a 3D geoinformation model of the city.
The jury (including in their final speech - Deputy Mayor of Vinnytsia V. V. Skalsky) especially noted their clear connection to the project priorities of the Concept of Integrated Development of Vinnytsia 2030 and the vision of how the proposed solution can replenish the VMR open data bank.
All team members received valuable prizes from sponsors, and students received invaluable experience in teamwork in the field of AI&OD with developers from leading IT companies.
